Talakaveri is the place considered to be the source of the Kaveri River. It is situated in the Brahmagiri hill close to Bhagamandala in Kodagu district, Karnataka, 1,276 m. over sea level. However, there is no everlasting observable flow from this place to the main river course except during the rainy season. It is about 8 km away from Bhagamandala and 48 km from Madikeri.
